Warminster, PA – The Philadelphia Revolution of the Eastern Junior Hockey League proudly hosted the Islanders Hockey Club this weekend at the Rink at Warwick in Warminster, PA.
In game one of the back-to-back series on Saturday night, Philadelphia opened the scoring in the first period with a goal by forward Dane Genord. Revolution forward Riley Egan added a power play goal a minute and 8 seconds later. The first period ended after the Revs successfully killed off seven penalties and cashed in on one of two power play opportunities.
The second period was scoreless. It was the Islanders who opened the scoring in the third with a power play goal by forward Mike Doherty. Forward Mike Jamieson added a short-handed goal for the Islanders to knot the score of the game 2-2. Forward Dan Divis took the lead again for Philly with an even strength goal. 59 seconds later with about a minute and a half left in the game, Islanders defenseman Derek Stahl scored the tying goal which would lead to overtime.
The back and forth of this thrilling and competitive game would continue in overtime and lead to a shootout. Philly’s Genord got the win for his team in the shootout with his second goal of the evening.
In game two of this series on Sunday morning, it was the Islanders who opened the scoring with a goal from forward Connor Anthione. Islanders got the shutout win in this game over Philly by a final score of 6-0 with a pair of goals by forward Ted McCarran and Garret Cox, Jake Wensley, and Ryan Callahan each chipping in one. Revolution goaltender Steve Thulin made 33 saves.
